The story of Al-Basel began with its founder the late Abdulaziz Fares, who fell in love with the complexity and artistic nature of marble. His experiences as a young man were shaped by sacrifice, hard work and passion which made him determined to start his own business. Al-Basel Building Materials and Contracting Company was established in 1979 and registered at the chamber of Commerce and Industry under registration No. 8966.

Abdulaziz Fares built the company with his own hands starting with just five employees, a humble showroom and a small stockyard. With his passion,knowledge and humanitarian character he was able to build trust and an impeccable reputation for top quality projects in the market.

However, there came a very painful period in Kuwait with the onset of the Gulf War. People were martyred, displaced and forced to shut down their business operations. Al-Basel was one of them. After the invasion, Kuwait was ready to re-build itself and so was Al-Basel. With no plans or incoming orders, the company was eager to continue the legacy of Abdulaziz Fares.

Today, Al-Basel is headed by his son Ali Fares, who has inherited his father’s passion, love and enthusiasm for the inspiring world of marble. The company now has over ninety specialized and devoted employees, an uncountable stock of onyx, marble, stone and granite as well as projects around the world. Moreover, Al-Basel prides itself in providing undisputable quality of work combined with professionalism and an ever-evolving nature for the latest trends and technologies.
